Established over 15 years ago in the Birmingham Friends of the Earth Building, The Warehouse Café has a reputation as a quality provider of vegetarian and vegan food.

Much of our bread, milk, dried products (such as beans and pulses,) cold and hot drinks and vegetables are organic. Our hot water is heated by solar panels on the roof of the building and all waste that can be is recycled is. For example our waste vegetable oil is filtered and used to make a biofuel by CSV (Community Service Volunteers) as part of their environmental project, ‘Run a Muck - Composting and Recycling’: http://www.csv.org.uk/Volunteer/Whats+Your+Interest/Environment/Environment+Services+-+Run-a-muck.htm

Our food suppliers are local so most of our food is delivered however as we often require products from the wholesale market we use Cycle 4U which is a new business based also in The Warehouse. The business’ main service is post and parcel delivery however it is great to work with Steve on our orders, a partnership which will hopefully expand over the years: http://www.cycle4u.co.uk/

The staff t-shirts are made of organic cotton and supplied by Eco-Merch: http://www.eco-merch.com/

The restaurant is also a great space for exhibitions. Artwork, ranging from photography to paintings to prints, is exhibited on the walls of the café. Exhibitions change every two months and all the work displayed can be purchased. We work mainly with local artists however also work with artists from beyond the midlands area.

We are currently working with Birmingham Friends of The Earth on their 'Fix the food chain’ campaign. As this campaign aims to highlight the connection between meat consumption and the problems of climate change we are working with them to promote vegetarian food. http://www.foe.co.uk/campaigns/biodiversity/news/fix_food_chain_20576.html#1
